It’s not as though Mazatlan (one of Mexico’s flashiest and trashiest beach resorts) needs any official reason to party. Nevertheless, Mazatlan claims to be the host of the oldest Carnival, and its wild and crazy celebration is second only to the blowout bash in Rio. Aside from the standard-issue fun found in the countless parades, street fairs, and all-night revels, Mazatlan’s Carnival also features an elaborately staged Baile Infantil (Children’s Dance) where children aged three to ten perform native dances in fanciful costumes.
