Paris doesn’t go in for open-air bric-à-brac sales on the same scale as Lille, but this attic clear-out at the foot of the recently restored Porte St-Denis could yield a few gems, among the old sets of cutlery, clunky radios and abandoned toys. Even if you don’t buy anything, magicians and musicians will be on hand to keep the crowds entertained.

Endre Tot

This is your last chance to see this major exhibition by expatriate Hungarian artist Endre Tot, currently resident in Munich. ‘Missing Pictures’ refers both to Tot’s absence from his homeland – his last showing here was a comprehensive retrospective at the Palace of Arts in 1995 – and his artistic style. ‘Cezanne painted what he saw,’ says Tot, ‘I prefer to do the opposite: paint what I cannot see.’ Thus his works are full of brightly-coloured spots or zeroes on black backgrounds – in his words: ‘the visible absence of painting’. Tot has been working on ‘Missing Pictures’ since 1987.

Sending up ‘Oirishness’ to the nth degree is D’Unbelievables, otherwise known as Pat Shortt and Jon Kenny. The hugely popular duo sold out every seat for the entire eight-week run of their last show, ‘D’at’s Life’, within hours of the tickets going on sale. For their latest offering, they are moving into Vicar Street for a four-week run and, as per usual for D’Unbelievables, there will be lots of audience participation and a hotch-potch of chaotic characters.

Moma gets Millennial with this exhibition on modern art history. The first exhibition cycle, ‘ModernStarts’, covers 1880 until 1920, and consists of three parts housed on different floors, exploring ‘People’, ‘Places’ and ‘Things’. This thematic focus is a deliberate attempt to break out of the traditional chronological approach and to stress instead connections of style, medium, school and thematic concern by juxtaposing work from different eras. Selected contemporary work will be incorporated into these installations to show the influence of the traditions, themes and subject matter of the period.
